Journey of a Lifetime

You don’t know how it happened but one day you put on your pants and wonder who dried them on high heat.  Perhaps you have that discussion one more time with the kids about never touching your clothing again.  Then there comes that day when suddenly your shirt is a crop top and you sit in denial because you really don’t want to go over how many deserts you had at the last holiday party.  Maybe you should talk to the kids again

At what point do you take a good long look in the mirror and recognize that you are fat? Yes, I said the word.  Shhh…maybe no one else heard it.  How about obese?  Obese.  Now that certainly isn’t a kindler, gentler word.  I remember the first time I was called obese, it was by my very own doctor.  Overweight?  Yes!  Obese?  No way!!!  Yes way!  Crap!

So the question becomes this:  What do you do about it?  It all comes down to choices. You make decisions every day that effect your life.  You decide whether or not you are going to get out of bed in the morning, which clothes you are going to wear, which purfume you are going to spray on, coat or no coat, do I go to work or stay home…your day is filled with decisions that affect your life and each decision holds a consequence.  For the most part we make pretty good choices.  We get up, we shower, we throw on our deoderant, we slip on our clothes and get ready for the day.  When it comes to fueling our bodies we don’t always make those same great choices.

My daughter was recently diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH).  This occurs with the cerebrospinal fluid pressure in the skull is too high, it was once referred to as Psuedotumor Cerebri.  At this moment you are probably asking yourself what does this have to do with weight loss?  Everything!  IIH is becoming increasingly common in young obese women of child-bearing age.

This blog will be a timeline of the weight loss/lifestyle change journey between mother and daughter as we try to come close to the right weight4us.
